Jill Engledow
was born in England
and grew up in Texas, Hawai`i and Guam,
moving to Maui in 1968. She has been
telling Maui's stories for more than 30
years as a reporter and editor at The Maui
News and as a freelance writer specializing
in Maui history. Jill's love of Maui and
passion for island history inspired her to write Maui 101: Your
Guide to Island Life to help newcomers to the island connect
with the history, culture and community life of their new home.
She is also the author of Exploring Historic Upcountry and the co-author of The
Maui News 1900-2000: 100 Years As Maui Newspaper, Magic Maui: The Best of the
Island, and The Spirit Lives On: A History of Old Maui High School at Hamakuapoko.
Brian Berusch
is the publisher of the popular web site B on
Hawai`i, as well as a freelance writer and on-air travel expert for
Hawaii's NBC affi liate, KHNL. His clips can be spotted with
frequency in the nation's top travel, culinary, design, and lifestyle
magazines, including Town & Country Travel, Travel + Leisure,
Modern Luxury Hawai`i, Wine Enthusiast and Islands.
"Hawai`i has historically attracted extremely unique and
innovative personalities," Berusch said. "Whether it be someone in the travel, food and
beverage, adventure, luxury or eco sectors, someone in Hawai`i is always doing something
that simply isn't done quite the same anywhere else on the globe. It keeps the stories I
write fresh and exciting."
For a collection of stories and interviews with Hawaii's most unique personalities,
check out Brian's site, www.BonHawaii.com, where you can sign up for his twice-
monthly newsletter.

From the Publisher:
Our mission for Art & Culture on Maui is to provide
Maui artists & galleries with a large-format venue in which
to publicize their work. The Arts are an asset to the island
and part of what makes Maui so unique. In these times of
economic insecurity it's important to continue to support
the local art community and the cultural events that make
Maui so special. Our Calendar of Events provides many
opportunities to participate. Please visit the online version of the publication where
you will fi nd direct links to our featured advertisers. Thank you to those who have
continued to support the publication over the years. We couldn't do it without you!
