Annual Fatherhood Celebration This is a free community event that celebrates fathers, uncles, grandpas and all the men in the lives of our children. There will be pool access, music, plus lots of food, games and fun stuff for kids of all ages. What better way to get familiar with Central Maui's rich and complex history than with a guided tour of some of Maui's archaeological sites. This tour takes hikers along the Waihe`e coast, along dunes and wetlands, to both an ancient fi shpond and heiau. Reservations are required. "Think Globally Eat Locally" of the park, sustainability educational presentations, and a gourmet buffet prepared by celebrity chef Michael Gallagher. The meal will showcase locally produced ingredients. "Ocean Fest" for the kids, plus naturalist information booths and products Maui is a bit of an extreme sports mecca. Although most of us aren't up to the task of a .9 mile swim and a 24.8 mile bike ride, topped off with a 6.2 mile run, that doesn't mean you can't take part in the festivities. This windsurfi ng slalom race event is part of the Maui Race Series. Japanese Summer Festival Celebrate summer and local Japanese crafts in historic Wailuku. Obon Festival Come and take part in the Japanese Buddhist service and celebration. Viewers can enjoy screenings of critically acclaimed movies at spectacular indoor and outdoor venues. There are also a number of affi liated ceremonies and galas, involving gourmet food, drinks and lots of elbow rubbing. This event has something for everyone whether you are looking for star-studded decadence, or just out to watch a movie under the stars with your family.
